Terri Geerinck: Facilitation Boot Camp

Facilitating, team work, and collaboration are core areas of learning for college faculty to be successful in the college, not only in the classroom, but also in working with colleagues, managers, and committees.  Facilitation skills make both collaboration and team work possible and are essential for co-ordinators to effectively manage the myriad of complexities in their roles.  This workshop will focus on some of the key skills that effective facilitators use to manage meetings, collaborate with others, and handle a variety of situations that present themselves to faculty and program co-ordinators.

At the completion of this workshop, participants will have had the opportunity to:

  1. Define facilitation,
  2. Identify the key skills involved in effective facilitation,
  3. Differentiate facilitation from other meeting skills,
  4. And practice key facilitation skills.

 
 
 

Jean-Maurice Lafond & Marie Moreau: Team Building - The 5 W's

 

 

During this interactive workshop, participants will explore the basic principles and methods of Team Building. They will be able to answer the five following questions:

  1. What is Team Building?

  2. Why Team Building?

  3. Team Building is for whom?

  4. When is the time for Team Building?

  5. Where and how can we build a team?

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Define the concept of team building.

  2. Give a sense and utility to team work and team building

  3. Identify who are the team members and what are their respective roles

  4. Set the best time for team building

  5. Choose proper team building activities fitting there goals, environment and conditions of work

  6. Plan for follow-ups

 

Jake Sandison: Coordinators' Curriculum Conversations

Ruth Stiehl, a prominent authority on college curriculum suggests that “curriculum development is a conversation, not a technology”. What are those essential conversations a program coordinator needs to have with their program team to be able to effectively fulfill the curriculum component of their role? Join me for a series of conversations and activities designed to explore the coordinator’s roles and challenges, and to develop solutions to take back and implement with your program team.

At the end of this workshop participants will:

  1. Explore the various roles of the program coordinator with respect to curriculum
  2. Identify essential concepts and barriers involved in the fulfilment of their curriculum responsibilities
  3. Develop solutions to commonly identified program curriculum issues
